Last week, we had the pleasure of attending the Northern Film Festival in Leeuwarden! As part of the festival’s industry program, we delivered a panel discussion on the importance of talent development across Europe; raising the voice of our partner organizations working with emerging filmmakers.

In this discussion, we were pleased to address Dutch policy makers and funders about the subjects of time and funding as crucial elements of our work. Without government support and funds, we would not be able to support such a diverse range of filmmaking talent into the industry to reflect the culturally diverse world we live in.

In between the activities of the festival program, we had chance to explore the beautiful city of Leeuwarden, thanks to Henk Leutscher’s City Guide to Leeuwarden – what a pleasure it was to peek into the city’s rich history and culture.

We also spent time sharing knowledge and experience from our various filmmaking workshops across Europe, gaining a deeper understanding of how each organization conducts its informal training style with young filmmakers. While a post-Covid world allows us to connect on a regular basis virtually, we always find that meeting in person gives us a fantastic opportunity to share ideas and hear about new ways of doing things to ensure we’re delivering the best possible experience for our talents across the world.

We’re already looking forward to the next opportunity for our partners to meet in person.

As always, we’re stronger together!
