Berlinale
The Berlinale Meetup is a networking and film screening event that takes place during the Berlinale. The event is a great opportunity to meet other filmmakers from across Europe, and also a chance to meet the organisations in Screen Talent Europe. The event takes place at The Nordic Embassies in Berlin.
More information on the 2025 edition will follow soon.

Directors Village
CineSud Directors Village is a multi-day residency focused on emerging European directors who are working on a new short film idea and want to advance both the artistic development of their project and their own directorial skills. Directors Village returns annually with eight new top talents from various European countries, and the programme is a collaboration with Screen Talent Europe and its partners. The call for Directors Village 2025 will go live at the end of September! Keep an eye on www.cinesud.nl and the socials of CineSud for all the details.

In 2024, CineSud will also organize a Directors Village variant for non-fiction creators: DOCvillage. The first edition is for creators from the Netherlands and Flanders, but future editions will be in English, making them accessible to creators from all over Europe (and beyond).

Pitching Forum
STE Pitching Forum is an annual event that takes place during the Norwegian Short Film Festival in Grimstad, in the month of June. The Pitching Forum is a collaboration between Mediefabrikken, Screen Talent Europe and the Norwegian Short Film Festival. Twelve emerging filmmakers will be selected to pitch their projects during the festival in front of a jury and an audience. Finally, a winner will be selected and awarded a production grant of €4.000.

The 5-day programme offers intensive days of workshops, master classes, screenings, and networking events with young filmmakers and the industry.
Application is open to filmmakers from all over the world between the age of 18-28 years, and offers emerging filmmakers the opportunity to both develop their film crafts and meet filmmakers from across the world. You can learn more about Talent Camp here.

Introduction to international co-production:

The purpose of co-productions is to strengthen your network with new partnerships and creative exchange between filmmakers from other countries.

In STE we encourage these partnerships, as we highly value the opportunities that co-production can provide for you, including international financing, cultural and business exchange as well as distribution.

How to find people to collaborate with?

If you have an idea for a film, where co-production is necessary, or you want to expand your network STE can help you.

If you don’t have any international contact to filmmakers, you can contact your local STE partner – they can connect you with an STE partner in your desired country.  Together you can make an open call to filmmakers and hopefully find you new co-producer.

A successful international collaboration includes:

  • Good agreement
  • Good communication
  • Budgeting
  • Tax in the different countries
  • Location
  • Different rules and regulations in different countries, funding, visas etc)
